Getting "Unstuck"

You know the feeling. You’re at a place in your personal or professional life where you’re not sure what comes next. You may feel overwhelmed, confused, or even a bit fearful about the next steps to finding clarity. Going from Clutter to Clarity is not an easy task, and it can take trial and error to find what works for you.

Today, let’s walk briefly through five of my favorite tips for helping you get “unstuck.” These will need to be adapted for your specific situation, which is something we can talk about if you are in the midst of chaos.

Keep an eye out for more information on the rest of my tips through social media this month.

1. Identify your Obstacles

First and foremost, identify what is holding you back! What is stopping you from getting “unstuck?” As mentioned above, what are the emotions you’re feeling? Are there more tangible obstacles such as finances and time? Identifying these is essential to knowing the walls you’ll have to break through to get where you want to be.

2. Making a “One Degree” Shift

Nothing will change dramatically overnight. If it does, it probably isn’t sustainable anyway. When I tell my clients to focus on “one degree” shifts, I mean start slow and take it one step at a time. Doing even the smallest thing differently than you have before can help you ultimately move in a new direction towards your goals.

3. Getting Out of Here!

Spend time outside of your office or home. Wherever you may be feeling stuck, step away. Take time to go outside and enjoy nature. Give yourself a new perspective by taking in a breath of fresh air, noticing the trees and grass around you, or even the birds and animals you see. Getting out can also be in the form of exercise. Getting your body moving not only makes you feel better physically, but also prepares you for breakthroughs and ideas that flow through movement. My BEST ideas come while walking the dog!

4. Checking in with Yourself

Schedule it out. If this isn’t something you’ve done before, being consistent and holding yourself accountable is vital to getting “unstuck.” Schedule times to check in with yourself and see if your feelings or obstacles have shifted. This is key to sustaining your success!

5. Pay Attention to Your Environment

Sometimes we feel stuck because the energy in our environment isn’t conducive to change and advancement. I encourage my clients to fill their space, whether home or office, with things that nurture the five senses. From choosing lights and colors that instill calmness to creating an aromatic space, fill your senses positively and invite yourself to be inspired and productive.
